Membership

Parents are a powerful political voice and a major stakeholder in the life of their childrens school.

QISPC advocates on behalf of all non-government school parents on educational and related issues. In the past year we have met regularly with the Queensland Minister for Education, Geoff Wilson on matters of interest to school parents, participated in various committees including the Qld Schools Alliance Against Violence, and the Non-Government Schools Council, and been given the opportunity to input into matters such as NAPLAN, the Australian Curriculum and the Flying Start reforms. We also regularly attend meetings at a national level with DEEWR as an affiliate of the Australian Parents Council (APC).

We actively promote parental engagement in schools, recognising that parents are the first educators of their children, and that,
When schools and families work in partnership, children perform better academically, stay in school longer and enjoy their schooling.
(Australian Government Family/Schools Partnership Framework, 2004)

As a membership organisation, we need your support to offer good services, feedback and advocacy. Membership enables us to link and share best practice amongst school communities, accurately represent parent interests and provide support to parent groups. Being able to inform and engage parents within schools means parents can work alongside educators to encourage high levels of parental and community involvement.

QISPC needs your membership to build positive family/school partnerships, to represent parents interests in education and to maintain government funding.

Attached please find QISPC financial year renewal forms. Your school P&F may join, or your school may choose to pay the affiliation fee. Individual memberships are available on request. Membership entitles each school group to nominate a representative to the state committee. Meetings are held quarterly at various locations, and teleconference facilities are available.
