Establishing a Class Representative System

1. Decide what role the class representatives will have.
2. Decide the relationship the class reps will have with:
   
   
   • P&F
   • Class teachers
   • Principal
   • Other parents
   • Others in the school community
3. Formulate a simple job description.
4. Advertise the positions to the school community.
5. Target suitable parents personally. This is often more successful than waiting for applicants.
6. Appoint a Class Representative Coordinator (may be a current member of the P&F)
7. Provide in-service and regular meetings for class reps.
8. Communicate with class reps via special newsletter/e-letter.
